The frequency of the wavebands for industrial use have become very high over time, and a variety of wavebands can open the door to game-changing applications. However, optical components in the terahertz waveband between the millimeter wave and visible light are undeveloped, and naturally occurring materials for the development of terahertz applications are lacking. We have produced unprecedented materials such as a material with an extremely high refractive index and extremely low reflection. The materials can be applied to a planar antenna for various continuous wave sources in the terahertz waveband. We also produce an extreme-sensitivity terahertz polarizer as a commercialized application inspired by metamaterials.
